Has anyone noticed that castrol tts now comes as castrol power 1 tts and it has now changed colour to red.
I bought a couple recently and wondered if anyone had noticed this. It still says that its fully synthetic but i have also noticed they sell castrol r2 racingbike?
Will it be ok to mix old and new oils or should the system be run down low until the oil light comes on then drained to make way for the newer oil?
Would you think power 1 tts is still the best castrol oil available or would this r2 racingbike oil be a better bet for oil pump use?
Yes after seeing they have 2 fully synthetic oils available power 1 and r2 racingbike it's hard to know what to go with. I have a couple of litres of the new power 1 tts so I will try using That up first and see how I get on unless of course the r2 is considered a much better bet. Would be good to see what difference people find. I wonder which one smells nicer?
R2 is a deleted product line. At least in AUST anyway. They say Power 1 TTS replaces R2. Which is sort of funny, because TTS has been around alot longer than R2 was.
Castrol also say Power 1 TTS is still died blue, but cant tell me if the formulation was changed when the name changed from TTS to Power 1 TTS. I doubt it. They chop and change product names all the time without actually changing the product.
Castrol is awesome !!!
Tech number is 1300 557 998. They do other 2 stroke oils designed for Karting ect and other higher revving engines. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
OK it's finally time to clear up all the confusion. I was totally confused about all this recently so I emailed Castrol Technical division about it. Here's what came back...
Castrol TTS is now Power1 TTS, just a rename.
Castrol R2 is now Power1 Racing, another rename, Power1 TTS is NOT replacing it, they're both different oils although very similar and can be mixed because the technology in them is so similar. He did say that he normally would not reccomend mixing 2-stroke oils but since they know the exact technology in both of these oils, it's not a problem.
They're both fully synthetic and can be used as premix or through an oil pump.
The guy said he would have no hesitation in using either in a road going NSR but if you want the ultimate then go with Power1 Racing(old name = Castrol R2).
I have a bottle of Power1 TTS and a bottle of Power1 Racing. They're both coloured red and smell identical. The spec charts(viscosities, flash points etc..) for both are identical too.
Castrol do a huge range of oils and at times it can get confusing as to which one best suits you.
Ha ha ha
I sell castrol (lots of it) and they crack me up.
I have 1lt and 4lt bottles ot Power1 TTS here on the shelf, and they definatly have blue oil inside them !!!
Depending where it is blended, they may use different dyes over there. All Aussie stuff should be blue.
Castrol Power1 Racing - is a 5-40 4stroke engine oil over here. Good for CBR1000RR's, no real good for NSR's.
R2 was deleted around 2008. Its not in my 2009-2010 guide, but it is in the 2007-2008 guide.
It may be still made available over in the UK (since it is owened by BP) but not in Aust anymore. _________________ Winning isn't everything, but loosing isn't anything
But Ireland is a real country, where they still race 2-strokes on public roads! I'll take their version on pure principle! _________________ Andy.

Still doesn't explain the use of different dyes around the world. Thats why castrol is awesome !!!
