My bike (MC18 R6k) has the oil pump set up so that the "position 2" marks line up at full throttle as per this post.
The bikes "seems" to run ok without too much oil splatter. I have not really looked into properly though I guess.
It surprises me that you notice a difference, so maybe there is something to this?
I would have thought that the two different methods of oil pump adjustment would be within about 5% of each other, but that is just an assumption.
Maybe if I get bored one day I may set the oil pump up as per the NSR-World instructions and see if there is any difference.
