Well it was a great day. It will take me a week to sort out all of the video but thought I would post this photo right before heading out for my first lap. It's been over 20 years since I've been on a track so there was a lot to learn, not withstanding that I needed to fully appreciate how to ride a 2 stroke on the track as my racing days were on 4 strokes.
Most of the time I found myself coming out of a turn in a gear to high. On the last session of the day one of the instructors who raced 2T bikes put a headset in my helmet so we could talk. As we approached each of turns he kept saying..."downshift, let that thing rev and make the rev limiter do it's thing". Funny cause it worked. I did find that the 42T rear sprocket needed to be a 39T. Cause the bike was pulling redline on the straights so I found myself having to be careful. And coming out of the hairpins in second gear was too tall and first was a little to short.
He also had a GoPro and our headsets were linked to the video - he will send a blue ray to me in a few weeks. They also asked if they could use their footage for their Facebook page. I don't do Facebook, but if it makes it up there I'll check it out with a buddy and let you all know.
I'll post more in next few days...need to get to work. I will say the most fun part of the day was flicking the bike around on the S-turns. Watching the liter bikes pass me like I was standing still on the back straight was entertaining too.
