I've seen an MC16 with 21 bodywork cobbled together on it, and it did look a bit of a mess, to be honest.

An MC18 fairing will fit without too many dramas (MC16 and 1988 MC18 R2J lowers are virtually identical), although the MC16 has a cradle around the headlight, and holds the instrument cluster, so the top half will take some working with.

Easiest way to fit an MC18 seat is to use the MC18 subframe. It's very similar to the MC16 subframe, and wouldn't take too much to alter. Again, better off using 1988 R2J parts than 1989 R5K.

Remember, changing the bodywork could mean things like the handlebars fouling, different lighting will be needed, and wiring harness modifications.
