Hi all - looking for some information on the tube that's attached to the airbox for fuel drain from the tank.
My bike didn't come with the tube at all, so I'm trying to replace with a generic one. The same 3/8 id as the fuel line from the petcock seemed to fit fine, but was difficult to route the tube as fuel lines are not very flexible.
In short:
1. What length and i/d is the fuel drain tube from the bottom of the airbox?
2. Is this of the typical fuel line material (thick and steel braided)?
2. Can someone please help describe the proper routing of the tube?
I bought a 1.0m length of 4mm ID silicone rubber hose suitable for this, although 5 would probably be ok as well, if not sure measure the pipe with verniers and take 1mm off the dia. I just put a small cable tie around the fitting end to be on the safe side.
I just attached the whole 1.0m length, then cut it to suit where it exited, that way I could cut it level with my other overflows, from the barrels and carbs. With regards to which side, I'm not entirely sure what's correct but common sense seemed to dictate it come out on the right side, ie same side as pipe from airbox, otherwise it meant crossing it over the engine.
Yes that's correct, there are good diagrams in the manual that show the overflow for the airbox coming down the right side and exiting alongside the carb overflows, behind the engine, near the rear brake pedal hanger. I think the coolant exits on the left side though as it comes down that side of the bike.
