NX5 throttle assembly

Sat Apr 01, 2017 6:23 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement throttle assembly (plus tube) for a NX5? I don't care if it's original, just want something that works well.

Thanks

Have you tried Dennis Trollope,he has had various throttle assembly parts for sale for honda RS's, wont be cheap though coming from Dennis, i think he does replacement ones as well, ie Domino etc.

Todd
Does the Domino throttle fit as good as the Honda? - I've only ever had the Honda throttle, but would be happy to give it a try.

Tom,

I have a Domino throttle. Problem is that it doesn't accept the standard NX5 cable.

NX5 throttle housing is NLA. Have you looked at TZ 5KE/4DP? They look pretty close to me.. DTR have them on ebay, but I'm sure there will be other folks who stock them. I'll probably be going that route next time I need one.

Mark
I fitted a TZ housing and tube today, and it seems a perfect fit. The Honda cable fitted straight on.

Pleased to hear that you're sorted, Tom.

Remember to put plenty of slack in the cable... It'll help to tame your new found bhp I've been hearing about... Wink Laughing

I'm told the Honda throttle tube is identical to the Yamaha part , I've not compared the two parts , so I can't say for sure that's correct.

It's entirely possible that Honda and Yamaha both outsourced to the same supplier

I thought all the RS125 throttle housings were 3 piece, like the early NX5's? They may well be the same unit..

Cable entry is different on the 3-piece housing. Tom runs powerjet cabs, so I believe will need the later cable and housing. I run PJ38's, but still with the later 2-piece housing.

You can never stop learning can you, now powerjet carbs, not familiar with them see, just checked, and nf4 and nx4 125's also nf5 250's, all share the same throttle housing, so as you said Mark, later nx5 with p/jet carbs is different, every day's a school day.

Indeed.. My knowledge of powerjet carbs ends at the throttle grip lol.

Looking at the bikes you're involved with, I'm sure you've forgotten more than I know.

Fyi I've been out with the TZ throttle, and it worked perfectly. Although mine does not have power jet carbs, it's a 97 model. I think they came out in 98/99.

Glad it all worked out. Did you have a good run? Could have sworn you were on the powerjet carbs - sorry about that..
