Nsr250 mc21 se, riding down road 26 miles into a ride out, slowed down to about 5mph behind a caravan and the bike suddenly stops. No hint of problem before this and i didn't go over any bumps. Got the bike recovered to home and have searched through the forums for the same problems and followed the advice given, a few of which don't say what the cure was annoyingly.
Firstly i also had no oil light and this was cured by fitting a new battery although the other battery was fine according to my ctek charger. There is no spark or any power getting to the coils. I have since checked all wires between pgm connectors and the connectors at the other end for continuity resistance and all check out. Pulse gen and ac gen including wiring check ok as does kill switch, ignition, side stand, coils, tps, rc servo, fuses, oil level sensor and all lights work.
Does it sound like the pgm3 has gone pop? The only slightly suspect thing i have found is the stator was rusty but tested fine, i tried an electrex stator from wemoto which is a G72, their website said would fit but they are wrong, its physically the wrong size and the mounting points don't line up.
Yes, pick ups checked ok. Trying pgm in another bike was on my list but don't know anyone else with a mc21. Anyone in Wiltshire area fancy trying it out for me let me know.
Thanks again for the help.
For anyone interested, or suffering the same problem, my bike is up and running again. It was the PGM3 that had died. I bought a replacement of ebay from a guy in Greece, i was a bit sceptical at first but he gave me a tracking number and it turned up nicely packed and works. Only problem i had was paypal didnt want to let my payment through.
Happy days, wont be riding this weekend though due to it being the wettest and windiest for ages.
Just an idea for the future... maybe next time give an approximate location, and you will probably find someone relatively close to you that will offer some assistance. _________________ Andy.
