I already saw that the exhaust pipe are not standard.
I am ready to work on the engine, but I do not wish to buy something not worth it.
It is sure difficult to give an advice only with some pictures, but I would gladly use some from someone more experienced than me.
Sincerely
Pierre
Personally, I think that's a lot of money for that bike. I see that you are pretty keen, but I don't think you should rush a purchase.
That is a 1988 R2J model, and I think it's very over-priced for its condition.
I'm sure Rob H will be along shortly, who can give a good assessment on the R2J, as he has a lovely example, and is sure to have a keen eye on the respective market. _________________ Andy.

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
It is rather difficult to find in Europe an NSR under 4500 Euros, and they are quite rare.
I had already seen the irish NSR, but it has japanese papers and I must make the import by myself, not knowing if it has all the necessary papers for France customs.
I have another problem : The NSR was not imported in France, and the only way to obtain legal papers is to get "oldtimers" papers.
That means the bike must be 30 years old. So practically, only an MC18.
The one for 4490e looks like the best out of a rough lot lol. Very hard for me to tell from pictures though. Youd really have to see them and do a serious inspection.
Its a pitty the irish one is not registered, i have no idea whatpaperwork is needed for french customs. But youll need quite a bit. When i imported my MC28 to ireland i needed lots of paper work and a signed letter from the previous owner. I then had to pay import fees, although they were small becaise they based it on age and not value.
You could check out what West Coast Imports have available. https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-NSR250-MC18-RESTORATION-PROJECT-1989/192961992048?_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1
It depends on how much work you want to do. The prices range from £3k - £6.5k. Even top end price bikes aren't guaranteed not to break. Phil has a very nice seed MC15 5K, that needed a rebuild not long after buying _________________ Why do things simply when you can complicate them

Thank you.
You are speaking of the blue one, I presume.
When you are speaking of inspection, could you tell me what point I should be careful about (NRS particularities of course).

Hello,
I have seen with the customs, and I will probably buy it.
I need some advice though.
The bike has an MC18 frame nr : MC18-117598. The engine is MC16E-1147686. Is that normal ?
As I cannot go to Ireland, they will make a small video starting the engine.
I will post it there and if someone could tell me if the sound is OK, it would be nice.

Hello,
That would be really nice.
If you want, I can give you my phone nr ( or you give me yours ), so that we can speak together.
PS : I do not yet know how to send a private message (newbie), so it is probably best you give me yours, and at what time in the day it is best to call you.
