Just purchased a newly imported (to UK) MC21 r-model which I will attempt to do up without throwing too much money at it. So, some history:
I have commuted into London on a big sports bike for some 31 years and on 11th September my S1000RR was stolen in broad daylight in a busy thoroughfare in the west end with no witness, no CCTV and absolutely no feedback from the Met Police other than a crime number issued following my reporting the theft. So no one cares - I refuse to commute on a motorcycle for the 8.5 years of my full-time working career remaining. Pissed off doesn't describe it. (I've previously had a Fireblade pinched and never seen and an R1 stolen recovered).
So why an NSR 250? Well I have had an MC16, an 18 and a 28 so 21 is missing off the list. I was on this forum back in the early 2000's with the MC28, which I sold to buy a SEC500 Merc (as you can see I'm not very sensible when it comes to cars and bikes - the current family car is an Alpina B5 BiTurbo Touring and I nearly bought an Esprit s2 last week) so it is the first port of call upon my return to the NSR 250 fold.
I've not really done anything with her yet but everything works (it's a Honda) and the bodywork is amazingly crack free. Obviously I have a fair sum to lavish on her as the BMW was worth over £11k and the insurance company were unlucky as their valuation firms agreed that it was. I'm debating whether I just do the stuff that's required to get her roadworthy and then fettle gradually or trip her to her knickers then do her up from scratch over the winter. Given the way the suspension feels the later might win...
