For a bike with the oil pump blocked off, what fuel to oil ratio do you use for premix? Is there a preferred 2 cycle or is Motul 2T okay as that is what I use in my Aprilia RS 125. New to the forum and to NSR 250's (1994 MC28)
Everybody will tell you to go 30/1, but I have run an MC21 on track for many years, as well as RS125 and RS250 at 40/1 with no problems at all, Silkolene comp 2 on the nsr and Castrol 747 on the RS's, but realy any good quality oil in the nsr should be fine. _________________ Proud Father of , 05 ktm 400exc supermoto 2018 honda crf rx supermoto
HRC spec 30:1, but as Les has said, they will indeed run with considerably less oil. Only use a fully synthetic 2T oil, especially if you are going to try and run less than the recommended 30:1, and try and stick to one brand. Motul 710 is probably the easiest to get in the USA.
Bear in mind that changing the fuel:oil ratio will also effect the jetting, and what works for one person/motor won't necessarily work for another! Hence why I won't personally quote any numbers! Also be aware that the fuel used by Les here in the UK could differ quite significantly in both octane rating and ethanol content, so I would say start at 30:1, and work down if you really feel it necessary. _________________ Andy.
