Nice to see you back on here Nick, I wouldn’t worry about anything a Harley rider says, their minds (and bikes) are still stuck in the 1930s 😂.
I’d paint the body work in the McKenzie colours if it were my choice but it’s not so I’ll look forward to seeing what you do with it!
I also managed to pick up a MC21 tank earlier in the year after looking for one for 2 years so now I have 2 complete sets of body work. The tank was badly dented at the rear (the rider won’t be having any kids now I’d imagine) but I got most of it out and painted it up to match the factory colours. It turned out really well and the tank cost me the grand sum of £25.
Chris.

Will be great to see a second livery. That's what I intend for my 21 eventually. I do love the Cup Noodle, but the bodywork is rubbish, and there are numerous other Noodles now... I have my eye on something different.

Hi Chris good to hear from you

Now the darker nights are upon us I’ll probably be around these parts more, not the biggest fan of social media or for living my life online, but I am keen to see what everyone else is up to especially Hudtm60

Along time ago I had a CB100N that had a fairly big dent it the same area as your tank and aways wondered if someone’s nuts were now and forever more flat like those flying saucer sweets you used to get as kids back in the 1980’s

Your Cup Noodle is iconic and I’ve read somewhere the error with one of the decals is now legendry and unwittingly reproduced on other bikes when the image was used as someone’s reference point, sure Steve Alee has/had one as well but with the headlight blanked off?

Thinking about my plan I’m not sure I’ve got the skill or patience to pull off a 50/50 and even then it might look a total Dogs diner, so perhaps safer and wiser to go with a full HB version on both sides. Legally I’ll be fine with the adhoc colour change as DVLA and the logbook show “Colour – Not Stated”

Before I can start I need to finish off my side project which I need up and running for the spring, the other half passed her test this year and now riding a 650 and I really want to ride the North Coast 500 in 2026,

NW500

As much as I’d like to do it on the NSR its just not got long enough legs for the distance involved, so sold my soul to the devil and bought a retro four stroke, my ultimate bike being a late 90’s SP1 in Lucky Strike or Cabin livery, but for the time being settled on a late 80’s ZXR with OK to tatty bodywork so my plan is to turn it into a “Kawasaki France” inspired endurance racer similar to what Hislop/Foggy and Rymer won the Bol’Dor on in 92. (they also won at Spa and Le Mans that year)

To achieve that I need to blank off one of the two front headlights so that a number plate board can take its place, which called for an old OEM NSR panel to be chopped up and permanently bonded in using Plastex which is the same stuff as both panels are made of so seamless and permanent joints are easily achieved.

Taking the plug from a curve in the NSR panel meant shaping was reduced to a minimum but even so I still used a fair bit of the Plastex granules to obtain the desired profile before skimming over with the lightest amount of filler

You can see the evidence of the plastic ruler I used during the shaping process in order to get the desired profile

027efb4e-2834-41a6-89b6-a3c9748f74cf

And then after an initial sanding and a blob of filler (yet to be fine sanded) it close to primer

79dd31f0-f384-4dd0-b0e8-6a259845e5cd

Anyway won’t rattle on about a ZXR or I’ll be condemned to the realms of the “Off Topic” section even if a tiny piece of it comes from a RIP MC16 side panel

The flying saucers picture made me laugh😂😂
I did the NC500 this year and also last year, you will love it 👍 the new project sounds interesting too.

Ps: I agree about social media and living online, I feel the same.

Yep! NISSNI Cup Noodle! Despite the fact I supplied the vector files for all the graphics, they still somehow managed to spell it NISSNI!

The Noodles (after we'd fixed them!)

Did I misread your post? I thought you meant doing a second set of bodywork, but if you're thinking something like the BAR Honda F1 car, where they did Lucky Strike on one half, and 555 on the other, that would be epic! Very Happy

Such a great pic that ^^ have to ask whose is whose ?

Ref mine your spot on Andy- I would like to achieve 50/50, I have a full set of spare OEM Rothmans panels just encase I have an off. and then an extra set for messing with that came off a race bike and survived pretty well all things considered

In essence - One side MacKenzie in Fully HB Livery

Niall Mackenzie NSR500 HB mask decals (4)

And the other side Gardner in Rothmans

I’ll drop you a PM.
The scenery looks bloody stunning!

I'm into the idea even more now! 50/50 would be awesome.... and I think you should start on it yesterday! 🤣🤣🤣

I'm just looking to have a spare set of bodywork in an alternative livery (maybe my chosen scheme and a stock scheme), although I hate red wheels, and it's the main reason I had my SE painted in the first place!
