Are the MC 18s just too old?

OK guys, not to start a flame war, but I've been thinking a lot about the older models and wonder why some of the most important parts needed for them (the older crank, lights and fairings) aren't as easily available as the newer ones. So far online, I heven't been able to find near as many bits around compared to the 21's on. I came across this beautiful R6K SP in really nice shape going for 420,000 yen here. I wouldn't doubt it's been in the same shop for a while.

Am I wrong or are people really having a tough time finding parts for the older bikes? If so, how difficult is it for the average person to find another motor out of a newer 21 and/or use the 21/28's parts completely?

A new MC18 crank is virtually impossible to find these days, but MC21/28 crankcases (and crank) will slot straight into an MC18 frame.

You won't have any trouble keeping an '18 going for a few years yet still!

If you can get a r6k for that money go for it

I struggle to find pictures on the net of them and the closest I have come to one is finding half a Terra racing body kit in a breakers with Steven 45, eh and if you ever find the ltd ed blue version of which we found a complete side panel then wipp it up!!

Yeah iam sure Andy will say I have an obsession with these and should be ignored!

dont sweat it some one some weres got the parts

Hey luke,

I started working on those pannels today and the left hand side one came up mint. The right hand one isnt as good but I got rid of most of the marks. I can't wait untill I can aford to have them all restored and build the bike up now.

If you go there again remember I need a left hand lower with all the lugs (white and silver will be perfect)
