Mc16 piston cut out

Wed Jun 02, 2004 3:11 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

My front cyclinder stops firering after the bike gets hots but starts again if left to idle then cuts oiut again, Evil or Very Mad also the rev counter stops at this time. The cdi has been changed twice but to no joy. A auto electrician says it might be the pick up coil. If anyone has any ideas about a fix it would be cool.

I believe the front and rear coils are the same, so you can swap them over to see if the fault transfers to the rear cylinder. If not, you can rule out the coils.

Have you checked / replaced the plugs?

Are the HT leads tracking? Is the cap in good condition and firmly attached (they screw on)

Good luck and let us know how you get on...

thx. The plugs have been swapped around as have the new cdi's. Still no joy. The plugs seem to be sparking coz when the piston isn't firing and you pull the lead off the plug u get a shock. This problem only occurs after riding because when u leave it to stand for a weekend and start up but don't ride it doesn't happen. the ht lead from the front plug eas put on the back one and i had no problem.
