Hi everyone. I recently sourced a second hand kick start for my MC21 here in Cape Town. The original was very badly bent. I fitted it last night and I find I battle to kick the bike because the right foot peg restricts me fom kicking it properly. I dont think anything on the bike is bent and I end up flooding the bike. I dont see any place for adjustment on the foot peg.
Thanks guys
Doesn't bother me but I'm running some rearsets, Andy has got a cable tie to hold his footpeg up out of the way. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Adjust the kick start so it's further forward at the top of the stroke. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Switch the ignition on, oput it in gear, and run along side with the clutch held in. When the bike is moving at a run, dump the clutch and jump on the seat with one buttock - bumping! _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Thats usually how I start the bike, just wasn't sure of the terminology used. If it cuts out in traffic for arguments sake is this the way you guy's start your bikes
No, I use the kickstart cuz mines setup properly and starts second prod!
Honda designed them to kick start, so if they don't there's something out of adjustment somewhere. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Dave I have had a good look. To the eye every thing looks spot on. When kicking it I catch my heel part of the shoe on the foot peg. I also find sometimes I slip of the kick star and it whacks the side of the frame. Some thing is definately not right!
I gently push the kickstart till I can feel the compression build up (piston coming to the top) then it goes quite firm and I can feel it "notch" twice, it will then kick first time nearly every time. It's perfect when cold or properly hot, it's just if it's sat for 1/2 an hour or so.
If it's cold full choke and no throttle or just no throttle if it's warm then catch it with a blip of throttle as it fires. do not touch the throttle if it doesn't fire.
When you kick make sure you do kick it all the way round, if your foot is coming off the back your probably only kicking it for about 1/2 of it's travel.

Evidently;
Yours, and this is after taking some of Steve's advice, wasn't it 44bhp before?
Mine, as we can see yours is miles ahead...........in the bent conrod award standings.
Now I've got a modded lid on and gave gone down a size on the mains it's even better than this.
Dave yours is THAT bad the dyno software has given the readout a different scale to mine. Think I'll stick with one thats a bit of a pain to start.
And since when was "cuz" part of the Queens English? _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
