hello all.
does anybody use this shell optimax or fancy equivilant in their nsr there is quite an interesting article on 400gb.com http://www.400greybike.co.uk/wksPetrolGuide.asp
i use it in my cbr400 nc29 and it has made a huge difference with tickover and throttle responce, the bike seems much more eager and less hesitant (oooh baby my spelling sucks Embarassed ) but i havent tried it in the nsr yet and wondered if anyone else had Question

This is a very good topic, We have tryed using Optimax in some of the race bikes.. back to back againest super unleaded we found it lost 2bhp for every 100bhp made.

The reason for this is that as Optimax has a higher RON value and so burns slower. If youre engine is running a very high C/R then a higher than average RON value will indeed give better out put (as the engine needs a slower burning fuel). But if the bikes C/R was designed to run close or too the type of fuel youre using you will infact lose power buy running a higher RON valued fuel.

Most 4 strokes run very well on standard unleaded even when compression is raised due to the very good design of the modern combustion chambers.

2 strokes on the other hand are always in need of better fuel due to there design.

Hope that makes sooome sence???
