hello, started taking apart the SE clutch today, anyone got some tips on how to remove the NUT from the Basket to allow it all to come of, Im looking at a clutch tool on fleabay but is there another way, Oh yeah the nuts been punched to stop it comming off, How do you get that off, i could prize it out and then undo the nut but so far my few attempts have been usless. any tips please i dont mind getting another nut but i want to keep the gearbox for my R? i have a large socket that fits and a 18" socket wrench, i could jam the rear wheel, etc but any idea;s especially from anyone whos dont it! would be great
as you are breaking the rest of the bike, why dont you just swap the motor. and keep your rebuilt r motor for replacing it when you kill it. _________________ faster-faster-faster-faster+pop. oh sh*t its fecked again.
Im not, im swaping clutches. i want both bikes working so im gona get it running proper, ! with all the fairing off i can see that the machine is dirty, in need of TLC the carbs are in need of a clean and the powervalves need seting up, all once i swap the clutches over.. I thought of that myself, but even when it died id want the clutch for the R!
Just cant get the fecking thing to move that nut is solid!
I used a penny in the cog and an impact gun. I know it sounds crazy, but it worked and the penny won't damage anything. I also wrapped the penny in a bit of duct tape. Its up to you to try. _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001

MMM i was thinking of jamming the back wheel and or chain and putting it in 5th gear but i thought that kinda preasure would break the box or something else, can i put that kind of force on it? am i being silliy cause right now i dont wana break anything....Is an impact gun similar to that used by the guys to change F1 wheels? iv only got a standad (but good) socket set a long bar 18" to put weight through but just wana make sure that if i jump (so to speak ) it wont damage it, im not to worried about the NUt as i can get a new one, or use the one from the spare box i have! ADVISE PLEASE thanks
I just did this today. Take a rag and stuff it in between the inner and outer part of the clutch. Then use an impact wrench and take off the nut. _________________
Okay it looks like i gota get a impact wrench! what torque is the one you guys are using, i can get one from ebay 200nm will that be enough? and Steve did you nut have a pinch in it (like a punch had been used to stop it comming of) how did you get round that?
As I put in another post, the cheapy electric ones from Argos are amazing. If you're struggling, try one of them. _________________ MC21SP Plaything
