Just wonderin' how to derestrict an MC16, can find all about the MC18 onwards on here but not before.
Was it only done because of the legalities introduced in '88/89 and so not done on the '87 MC16's?
I still have a speed warning light but I havent got the bike completely legal yet so havent taken her out into the open to test it if that warning has any mechanical effects.
its only a speed warning light, the 16 is not restricted. it only makes about 45ish hp. it can be re geared and tuned like any other 2t. _________________ faster-faster-faster-faster+pop. oh sh*t its fecked again.
The biggest issues with the MC16 are the small ports in the barrel and the dinky carbs. Replace them both with MC18 parts for a start. _________________ Andy.

Coolaid. I bought it with a seized engine and then got another MC16 one, but planning to rebuild the seized one (only one cylinder gone) so I'll make sure to get all MC18 bits. Or later, how late can I go?
MC21/28 cylinders have better cooling but MC18's have the best stock porting of all the models. All the cylinders will fit though.
You will then need to look out for a nice set of race pipes to suit the 16. HRC used to make them but they dont come up very often at all. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Hey almighty tacho, it's me, Safman. I sold you the motor. I have a set of mc18 5k electrics pgm2 and a set of carbs that you can buy if you want. Email me if u are interested. Cheers Mike. _________________ 94 mc28 SE
I think a few people will be busy over the winter rebuilding/tweaking however!
I know some of the guys have done Llandow twice, but I would like to see another 2-stroke day there as it's pretty much 1/2 way for the northern guys to Devon, where we have access to a very reasonably priced dyno, a cheap operator!, and some superb quality (and quiet) roads for a Sunday ride-out!
I'd like to make a spring weekend of it all again, and that time will come round so quickly, I am sure!
Re. the MC16 with MC18 bits... I'd want to see around 60hp! _________________ Andy.
