no i didnt in the end, i thought the one on the RHS of the bike was on the way out as my exhaust had so much movement in it but on pulling the bike apart i discovered that one of the springs was missing from my expansion chamber.
most of the guys on here thought it would be best to build a little press with a bit of threaded rod and press it it that way.

Yeah, I've had a couple of springs break too. The springs I bought swivel on each end. Hope this will keep them from breaking again.
I'm thinking if I replace the bushing it will give the pipe a more secure fit. My pipe broke near the head & was wondering if it was due to the worn bushing. Don't think they have been changed since 91.
It broke? Strewth. Sounds more like it's been securly fixed and prevented from moving about as the engine vibrates.
I seal my headers on with silicone sealant, so they don't move at all at the engine end, just bounce round on the chamber mounts as they need to and haven't had any problems so far. It also stops thje spooge stains inside the fairing. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

i've just fitted my chambers and i have siliconed mine into place, the amount of crap i had in my fairing was unreal... _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

I replaced the exhaust bushings a couple of days ago & thought I would share how I did it.
I first cut the rubber close to the edge. I then used a file to weaken the outer metal edge being careful not to file the frame. I was then able to pop it out with a punch & hammer.
To get the new ones in I used a piece of all thread, small piece of pvc pipe & some fender washers. I used these pieces as a press to get them in.
