2006 - What would YOU like to see?...

Sat Dec 17, 2005 7:45 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Well everyone, 2006 is nearly upon us, and I'd like to know what events you guys would like to see next season?

I envisage a "CheapTrackDays.com" 2-stroke day at Llandow S. Wales in the spring to kick things off, and we'll no doubt be arranging another weekend (maybe 2 - one in the spring, one in the autumn) in Plymouth/Cornwall.

I personally would like an extravagant weekend in Scotland, maybe at Knockhill. "mrpsychopath" has already mentioned it to me, and offered to show us some of the stunning scenery and roads that area has to offer.

There have already been mutterings about Cadwell Park and Donnington track days too, so please post events you would like to participate in (and intend to do your utmost to attend!!) and we will see what we can help organise.

It doesn't have to all be about track days though, as it's not everyone's cup of tea! If you want to pick a location/date for a meet and ride-out (Ace Café/Chelsea bridge or Poole Bike Nights for example), then let's hear about it!

All in all, I think 2005 was a pretty successful year in the UK, so let's build on that and get a real "scene" on the go guys! Let's take a leaf out of the RGV and RD boys books, and give some of these events a taste of real exotica!! Wink

Also, I know the USA is a vast area, and you guys are spread out all over, but SoCal (and the Bay Area in particular!) has a rather high concentration of NSR's for a start, how about someone out there taking charge and trying to arrange something - maybe Laguna again, or a 2-stroke track day?

And you guys in "down under" don't get off either! An increasing number of owners are appearing in New Zealand and Australia! Let's have some action and reports from all over eh? I'd like to open a new section in the main website dedicated to "owners meets and events".

Good luck to everyone in 2006, and let's start hearing the ideas! Very Happy

Top idea.

I'd like a weekend tear round Wales perhaps. Blatt accross the top, nightstop on the coast somewhere, and blatt across the bottom on the second day (or whatever the best roads dictate). May even tie it in with one of the rounds at Angelsea track.

The London meet went down well didn't it?

I think a Donnington day is a must.

Will certainly drag out the HLB Racing mc28 for Llandow and make a long weekend of it .Would do Knockhill if anything was organised unfortunatly the bike is totaly race focused so a ride on the road is out.Donington again should be good.Look forward to seeing you all in 2006. Keith

I was only recently talking to StephenRC45 about a blast, er I mean leisurely trundle, through Wales! That's definitely a summer one!

I intended to go to Anglesey for the round of the KR Cup, but unfortunately was unable to make it.

I'd be up for a few tack days/meets ups. Not too fussy, but would love to do Donington & would probably only be able to attend the more southernly meets being in the S.West.

Bring it on & have a FANTASTIC XMAS & NEW YEARS ALL! Very Happy

Well, StephenRC45 and I will be coming right past your door for a lot of stuff, and even though we currently have 4 complete NSRs (soon 5 - hopefully adding an MC16 in the New Year!) and 3 chassis in various states of disrepair that we can muster, if you wanted to chip in for a Sprinter van, then you can join us on some escapades if you like!

I'd like to try Snetterton again, I know it's not really the track for a 2fiddy, but it's got some blindingly fast corners! And Lydden is cool for those in the South...

If I get my arse into gear and get my bike MOT'd I'd be up for organising a Soho/Kings road cafe thing and would like to do a Chelsea bridge meet.

Living in the midlands area, I'd be well up for a fairly local meeting. There are plenty of tracks up here, (Mallory, Cadwell, Donnington, Rockingham). Or even just organising a meeting in Derbyshire. I went with a mate to an LC owners club meeting in Ashbourne in the summer and had a great time. Quite a few of the guys who went on the "ride out" came back as pillions Exclamation

I'd be up for most things really, location really isn't a big deal, this country is only about the size of a 2 pence piece and no where is really out of reach for a long weekend.

But if people can get up here (Derby/Notts area) apart from Donington (awesome), Mallory (OK) and the massively underrated Rockingham National circuits there's the Peak District roads including the infamous Cat and Fiddle run which everyone should see, it can be a bit bad for police but not as bad as some magazines have claimed, you've just got to pick your time, August bank holiday at 2pm probably isn't the best choice.
Monkey knows some good runs on the south side of Nottingham too and I've never seen any police on them at all.

I'd love to do the Nurburgring, Mick (Rothmans '21, had tyga pipes trouble, newish member) has done it on a 400, I believe he rode it there and back too.

Well with me moving from the Cali SF Bay Area to the South East in a week, I won't be able to take part in anything in California anymore.

However, that all 2-stroke track day at Jennings is looking like a good idea Smile And I am sure I will be spending some time at the tracks in the Georgia area getting an idea of how to go around them for racing with WERA.

I was even thinking of finally going down to Daytona for a bike week trip. Pack the trailer up with some bikes, and spend a week down there.

Can't wait to have some new tracks to learn, and new roads to adventure on.

Part of the fun is being somewhere different. Yeah, there will probably be a couple of meets down here in the SW, but then again we can (if it's wanted) lay on a dyno and evening entertainment, plus some accommodation!

It's always "let's do Donnington" or "how about Rockingham"! That's probably a 500 mile round trip for us down here! I think Fontyyy said he did 600+ miles for the Chelsea meet, and StephenRC45 RODE his MC18 220 miles from Plymouth to London for that one!

Even Thruxton is a 200 mile round trip for me, so how about a little less of the "only if it's on my back door" please?!

I'm keen for Scotland and for a ride around Wales. Naturally Donnington "et al" days are going to happen, so let's hear it for more of the "different" stuff.

I appreciate what your saying Andy, but I suggested the Midlands or Derbyshire because I assume the British forum members live all over the UK, and the Midlands is, as the name suggests, in the middle (of England anyway). Wink Matlock in Derbyshire is a summer bikers mecca, mainly due to the excellent roads leading to it. Having said that, the state my NSR is in, I'm probably gonna spend most of the summer wandering around the Newark autojumble Exclamation

Yeah, I undestand that. I was sort of assuming that there will be several opportunities to meet in and around the Midlands anyway.

What I'd like to do is get a good cross-section of ideas and try to rope people into starting to organise things as soon as possible. That way we can have ample opportunity to price up rental vans, collar others for lifts and/or shared expenses, book time of from the better half, etc.

Sorry, shouldn't have discounted your Midlands post so rashly!

Another thing, it would be handy for people to add their (rough) location on their Profile, then it may be possible to contact others in a similar area or those that may be en route to a certain destination, to help motivate them or share costs if they are interested.
