Im new to nsr250's, have not ridden my bike too much but I find riding it at suburban local road and highway speed limits I cant really push past 8000-9000rpm.
Am I just not riding it hard enough? How do I find the powerband? I dont think ive actually found it yet. Should it be easy to find it at all speeds?
the illusive power band is where the power gets stronger over about 6-8K depending on the bike setup.
are you revving the bike close to the redline as 2Ts make their power high up the rev range.
take it to your local duel carriageway and cane the bike right up to the edge of the red (or into it if you are a bit of a masochist) and do this in every gear until you have to brake.
and that it, just sounds to me that you are changing gear to early _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

And if your finding it hard to pull past this limit................check to see your bike has been derestricted!, normally a black box and on few occassions a wire splice, Black box will normally be under the seat. and the splice youll need to check the wiring.
I'm quite new to these bikes, my MC28 SP has decent MMax pipes, and I assume it has been derestricted as it's quite nippy . This is how my engine runs:
Around 6 - 7,000 rpm the power starts to pick up noticeably, then at ~ 9,000 rpm there is a strong pick up in engine power, which drives hard until it levels off at around 11,000 rpm, though the engine will continue to rev to 12,000 rpm (not sure how much further it would go), the power levels off and is feels quite flat after 11,000 rpm.
As NSRMonkey says, it should be quite rev hungry and spin up quite fast beyond 7,000rpm. Try giving it the berries and see wot happens!
as long as the bikes warmed up nicely......rev its ass off
they love it, it what they were made for _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

Well i took it out for a ride on a quiet sunday afternoon with little traffic, and fanged it about, and im pretty sure I found the powerband on more than one occasion! Had it up past 10000rpm, just had to have the confidence to ride it harder. Most fun ive ever had, beats the old 175cc trail bike I used to ride beforehand in almost every area! (i am yet to try taking the nsr out dirt riding )
when you ride it that hard what jets should be in there? i have an old mc16 and i just got it and dont know a dang thing about it yeah, soooo save me we are at sea level here and the average temp this time of year is 50deg. thanks again and its premixed and i will premix it at 32:1 unless i hear different with motul 800 _________________ DAYTONA SPECIAL,74 RD350 LONG ROD, 2 RD200 ELECTRIC'S,88 NSR 250RG, MICRO SPRINT CAR W/CR 250 ENG
