how do you think the seat would look in Rothmans colours Question

do you think it would look a bit odd as the seat is quite a modern look and the Rothmans paint is a more rooty paint job Question

obviously the rest of the bike would be Rothmans to Very Happy
which is already sprayed. Very Happy

I'd personally advise agaiinst the Rothmans. It's a design from another era, and was meant to look right on the seat units of the time. Great looking as it is, I don't think you're modern unit would look right - you know how anal some people can be about originality in their paintjobs eh?

Nah, do something modern, or even better, design something new to go on there.

Slap a Repsol scheme on there - it's very sexy, more up-to-date. and super cool dudes like Doohan and Rossi both rode Repsol.

Rothmans would look crap on that.
Have you thought of updating the Rothmans design?
Use the same colours but echo the scheme to suit modern lines - imagine how it WOULD look if they were around today.

I will already have the panels. so respraying the whole thing is out of the question.

and sorry but Repsol IMHO is horribal and common sorry all you Repsol dudes out there.

what makes you think it would look crap, i have had a good look on Jamies site and there are a few in his pic gallery that have a newer seat unit on, albeit not the same as mine but not so different.

anyone good with photoshop wanna do me a flavour Smile

I dont know i think it would be hard to truly spoil a Rothmans paint job it may be just me but i think that is the best paint scheme anyway.

Why not just go for it ITS YOUR BIKE and if you like it thats all that matters Jamies bike looks pretty cool so what have you got to loose (not unless your thinking of Aerosoling it in your HUTCH Very Happy ).

Mate, Andy and I chatted about this ages ago when I said I fancied doing mine as I had some white magteks and we couldn't see how to do it, luckily Craig on 400grey bike can; Original next to it for comparision, click for bigger pics.

Personnally I'd not do the whole of the "back rest" of the seat in gold I'd only run it maybe 2cm over the corners and have the red stripe round next then have a semi circle in white.

I'm in two minds about the whole seat thing, sometimes I think it looks awesome like in this pic;

but then this looks pretty cool to;

yeah i asked someone on greybike if they could do it for me and then low and behold craig has....what a star Very Happy

i think it looks great, you are right about the gold but obviously he couldnt see that the gold isnt that prominent on the seat.

should receive my Rothmans panels today so i will be deciding what i am gonna be doing, if the panels are as good as he says then i will sell my R fairings and tank to pay for the tail to be sprayed properly.

yes Andy you have Very Happy

Superdupercool "dudes" like Gardner, Lawson and Doohan to say nothing of Fast Freddie Spencer doing the 250/500 double in the same year, all rode Rothmans NSRs.

Freddie's feat alone gives the Rothmans rep more kudos than the Repsol will ever have. This (winning the top 2 catagories in the same year) may well remain a record for ever.

Rossi? He's not fit to wipe their boots, as Dani has shown anyone half decent can jump on the diesel and go real quick straight away.

Add to that the Rothmans is a real 250 colour scheme, Repsol 250's were Aprilias.
