Just wanting to know if i am changing gears correctly. Normally when im in 2nd or 3rd I get it up to about 10000rpm or so smoothly before the engine begins to 'stutter', for lack of a better word. I havent noticed the stuttering previously, or maybe i didnt ride hard enough before, but is this stuttering normal and just a sign that I should be changing gears?
Thanks.

Stutter????? No, mine dosent do that no matter when i change, My old vfr did but thats because i hit the rev limiter all the time. not sure if the NSR has one, or maybe im changing to early?
my old 21R used to just tail off through 5th and virtually do nothing in 6th when it was restricted, couldnt get it near the limiter. _________________ MC21SP - Roth-tax

The bike is not restricted, im just wondering why it seems to stutter and feel like its losing power in the higher end of the powerband range. I dont think it was doing that previously.
I had a black m max box and thought it was de restricted. look here for the reading http://www.bikepics.com/pictures/477092/ the lower figure was with a black box, the higher one with a splice and jet kit, pipes. the wire splice released more poneys she went from 46hp to 50hp just with the splice before the rest was fitted!!!!!! , also youll see that pre wire splice and work 10500 was about it for peak power anyway! what work has been done to your bike? maybe your at peak?
If that's what it is, then a regulator/rectifier usually averages somewhere around £70, and a stator re-wire is about £50. That's IF it's one of those that's causing the problem.
It's unlikely to be both components failing, but if it is the reg/rec, then get a new one and don't bugger around with second-hand as it isn't worth it! _________________ Andy.

Yep, mine had a stutter that I was diagnosing when it seized
I'll lay a pound to a penny it's still there when I "fix" it. My gut feeling was the reg/rec, but the stator you say maybe??? I was just checking the usual "free" stuff (blocked jet, bad connection, dirty pickups etc.) that you hope is wrong but it never is when disaster struck.
My battery has been completely dead once too which lead to further charging system questions and on a '28 is annoying as the steering lock won't come off.
Not that thats it's biggest issue right now _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Any day now Fontyyy... I'm getting fidgety waiting for the box to turn up too, 'cos I both want my '21 running again ASAP, and need it running so we can dyno the new pipes! _________________ Andy.
