Thu Jan 26, 2006 5:27 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have an opportunity to buy a rear 17" wheel from a mc21 to replace my 18 inchh rear wheel on my mc18 Is this a direct swap or will I need different spacers, bearings etc.. ?
Thanks,
Ken

It is a direct swap. Very Happy The only Problem is you will lose about 1 inch of rear ride height.

To be fair KenC, your answer would have come up on the forum search as this has only been discussed recently by Skooter, which advised that the wider MC18 and MC21 wheels would fit... Rolling Eyes Wink

I tried doing a search, I tried "MC18 wheel" "MC18 wheel swap" "MC18 for MC21"
The problem is, the search feature doesn't search for the words in the order you write them so every search i tried brought up 70-113 pages of hits. Usually you can put " " around sentence and it will search for it as a sentence, but not here.
Trust me, I always try to search through past posts for answers. If it is something that I can't find in a reasonable amount of time the I will ask. Its kind of funny how uptight this forum is compared to most of the ones I visit. Its like pulling teeth trying to get an answer to a question that probably 40% of the people that looked at this post knew.
I will try not to post anymore and just be a lurker as suggested by some members from another 2stroke site.

Well that's hardly fair, is it?

The search feature on this Forum is different to many others admittedly, but if you read the guide next to the search box and enter the following criteria 17" AND wheel AND MC18 (using capital AND) you will yeild the following result:

17" wheel MC18

Yes, this returns 4 pages of results, but half way down the second page is a topic that answers your exact question.

The search facility isn't difficult to use, maybe it's just a little different to what you are used to?!

On the whole, I think the Forum is very helpful. I KNOW you won't find anything else as informative - anywhere - let alone in English and outside Japan!

For example, look at this post: RC Valve servo. I specifically drew these diagrams for someone who couldn't grasp the mental pictures described to him by posters in various threads. Even simple diagrams like those aren't just knocked up in 10 minutes!

You'd all soon be jumping if we shut down!!

Feel free to source the information from all the other NSR websites out there, or the manuals you can get at your local dealer Ken...

Come on Ken... You made a half sarky remark and you got one back... No harm intended!

The problem you see, is that having the best race rep 2-stroke has turned us all into snobs! So beware... Wink Twisted Evil

LOL! OK, OK, maybe I was being a little abrupt Shocked I appologize and I will try to use the search feature with "AND" now that I know thats the key Very Happy This site is an invaluable source of information I was just a little frustrated as this bike is much different than most of the other bikes I have owned/restored. The closest thing I had previously rebuilt was an 84 RZ350 which was much more basic than my NSR. Thanks Andy!
Dave, I did source the information elseware and recieved an answer withing 12 hours and I already have a manual for my bike but thanks for your concern Rolling Eyes Very Happy
