Doing my first topend on the MC28 (with the help of a friend; big thanks to the site for the info) since it had pretty low compression (about 85-90psi in both cylinders). I thought that was wierd since its supposed to have about 8000km on the bike. Took some pics of the lower cylinder since thats how far we got today. How does it look?
left side of the lower cylinder
right side
top of piston (appears to have a bit of blowby; how does the jetting look?)
inside of the barrel (looks very good, no scratches; figure I didnt need to take the head off since it looks good)
From memory!!!! its on the right hand side engine case (clutch side) by the water pump, there is a bolt you undo, im sure its that, i think there is also one on the front head, someone else will confirm, Id check my bike but its away at the mo..
actually, that looks pretty good to tell the truth. You can prolly get away with just changing the rings. _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001

thanks john...thats what I was planning on doing. Hopefully I can get it finished in the next couple hours and start the break-in process _________________ 1994 NSR250SE
whoohoo...got the bike up and running a couple hours ago. Only got to do the first portion of the break-in process. It started on the first kick then died. Stayed on after the second kick. I can definately feel more compression while kickstarting it. The bike runs more smooth in the low rpms and revs up quicker. Cant wait to finish the break-in tomorrow.
Couldnt do it without the help of the workshop writeup...thanks again! _________________ 1994 NSR250SE
