Right before you all start shouting at me I know every engine is different etc etc....
Do i really need the hrc jet kit because 100 notes seems a lot for some needles emulsion tubes and jets of which half i'm not going to use.
So i was thinking of just putting different mains in when i mod the airbox, is this feasable or am i just being a tight arse?
And now for the horror question what size mains would be a good start for a modded airbox lid and Tyga pipes, and please dont say start big as what is big as I'm pretty sure 190's would be a tad rich and I have never jetted anything in my life so I dont even know how much difference one jet size would make. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!

I seized mine on 188/190's
(no power jets though and the '28's run bigger jets in general)
Ideally you want the jet kit for the needles, you'll struggle to get it to carburate perfectly without them.
In reality it's nigh on impossible to say, you may well find with the racepipes it scavenges well enough no mean you need to go leaner than standard to get the best from it
Tyga went to 150's for the '21 power up project so maybe 160's is a good place to start as Thailand is bloody warm.........
You see the problem? This is part of the reason HRC ditch the powerjets, it's just another variable in the mix you can do without.
So yes you are being tight, HRC don't do stuff for fun and the jet kit is not £100 anyway. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

You can buy direct from Jha. I think TYGA sell them too. Maybe Andy on here can get hold of them I think, so support the site!... BAT Motorcycles in Kent also supply them. _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
If you want to be a tight arse, you can order what you need individually. I found the main jets and pilot jets in the kit unusable with mods like yours, and still unusable with WAY more mods to it than most on this board.
I have all the HRC part numbers to the individual pieces in the kit if you need them. For mains, 150-160 is probably a good start.
I have an opened airbox, cut airbox divider, larger diameter connection tubes between the airbox and carbs, standard carbs, standard reed cage with HRC reed stuffers, Tyga carbon reeds, ported/epoxied cases, ported cylinders, 2mm overbore cylinders, and full Tyga exhaust. I am running Bakudan needles that mimic the stock NSR needles (but are adjustable), 38 pilot, and around 165 mains still retaining the powerjet setup. It is a bit rich right now, and I am about 400 feet above sea level. _________________ Paul Herr

Wrench if you retain the power jets of course the HRC kit is all too big, HRC say plug them. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

I dont remember ever saying that I used the HRC jet kit without the blanked power jets.
I use the powerjet setup now, because when I went back to them, I re-discovered midrange power with no sacrifice on top! And no more detonation seizures! _________________ Paul Herr

Just received the kit complete with all its massive mains
I am assuming that the hrc kit is designed for running premix and no powerjets. Is there a guide as to how much bigger a mainjet needs to be when you start running premix and removing the powerjets or am i better off getting some mains in the 150 - 170 region? _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
Using premix will result in about 3-4% less fuel in the mixture than without, so you just need to compensate by a similar amount with the jetting. _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
I'll be keeping the oil pump, just unsure as what to do with the powerjets as the last thing i want is to sieze my nice new motor. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
