180 rear tire

Sat Apr 15, 2006 2:26 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I have a 180/55/17 rear tire with plenty of life left in it. im wondering if it is too wide for the mc21.

Also is there a trick to using the search function? Im having trouble getting relevant search results.

Thanks

waaaay too wide. I believe the biggest tire you can squeeze onto a 4.5" rim is a 160

oh thanks. One more question.. Would I have problems with fitting a 120 on the front? IIRC the stock front is somthing like a 110.

I have all these tires left over from my other bike

thanks again

120 front works OK as does a 160 rear, it might not handle quite as sweet but it won't kill you.

Don't put a 120 on the front. That's my opinion. I would stay with the stock sizes because it turns way to slow with the 120 front.

if you do go with a 120 front...get a 70 series tire to get some of the turn in speed back (what the 400 guys do when they go to a 160 rear)

don't do a 120 front on a 3" rim. have tested it out and it ain't no good. I also tested 150 rears and 160 rears back to back (both pirelli) and I couldn't tell the difference.
