Keys

Mon May 08, 2006 8:38 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

I noticed on my MC 21 That the ignition key is not the same as the other keys. In other words, I have two keys. One for the ignition, and one for everything else. Is this right, or was my ignition lock changed? Any reccomendations to get all to match?

Its a sad fact but if your bike has ever been stolen or someone has atempted to steal it the ignition barrel could have been damaged and there for replaced, which would be why you have 2 keys, i dont think there is a way to get them matached, the NS400 i just bought is like that mind you i didnt need any keys for the tank or rear seat it just fell off Very Happy Very Happy

Mine has two keys aswell, though since it was completely standard and pristine when bought it, I figured that's the way they're meant to be.

It's real easy to make the key work on the tank, trunk space and the helmet lock. Take the lock apart and you'll find the pins. You can move them around sometimes and get them to work with your other key. In my case, I used as many as I could and actually filed a few down to the right length. One of the locks is even missing a few pins so I could use just one key.

Thanks guys. I'll probably try to get the ignition lock to fit the others.
