I have an mc18 with a blown horizontal all the way to the bearing, the crank seems ok, the 18 is not with me now. I recently purchased 3 mc16 engines complete with the frame but without the computer box. Can the mc16 fit into the mc18 frame? Will the computer box be adaptable on it? the reason is I really like the mc18 and it is a complete bike while the 16 is in bits and in bad shape (rust dents, etc...). Please, help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance
Yes the MC16 can be put into the MC18. I've done it myself. You take 8mm off the (I think) sprocket side of the upper rear engine mount. I used a grinder and file.
Hang the motor about in place, and see where the chain run lines up to see which side it is.
If the MC18 cylinders or heads survived, use them. But only as a pair.
I had full MC18 electrics, except the PV servo. You gotta use an MC16 one.
Use the MC18 carbs & electrics, MC18 heads on MC16 cylinders, or MC18 top ends complete. _________________ The Chopster
Kieran, what did you do about the speedo? the 16 drives off the front wheel, the 18 drives off the engine. The 16 engine has not got the drive on the output shaft.
At a stretch, you could use a bicycle speedo (Digital, ask for one that goes up to 200 km/hr or more and has miles as well as km's)
I did have one of them on my racebike for a while... records average speed, maximum speed etc as well...
When well caliberated will be more accurate than the stock one. Also good for bragging points (Mine can do 208k/hr. See?)
Or caliberate it off, and really brag to your mates (Mine does 280 in fourth. See! ) _________________ The Chopster
