Aprilia RS250 suspension parts.

Tue May 16, 2006 12:28 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello all.
I'm building a project bike involving an MC18 frame (lighter, and I like the handling Twisted Evil )
Just wondering if any of you have fitted Aprilia RS250 suspension to NSR's. In particular, 1989 MC18's. (Or '88's. I'm not too particular. Hell, even MC21/28's for the front end.)

The suspension is off a 1998 RS250, stock front end, Hyperpro GP shock, and is still currently attached to my Aprilia racebike. Shocked

Also, what is the length of the MC18 shock, eye to eye. Question

Cheers

Interesting project, but surely handling is made up by the suspension as much as the frame? I'm guessing you already have the RS parts, but surely the best option is to have the MC18 stuff proffesionally rebuilt, or fit Ohlins stuff to it?

I've got the RS250 stuff, I'm going to buy a MC18 chassis.

The hyperpro is better than the run-of-the-mill ohlins.
Its got preload, high and low speed compression damping, as well as rebound damping. And a ride height adjuster.

The 'priller forks are pretty good. Far better than the stock honda stuff, even SE/SP, though inferior to the HRC RS250 GP stuff.

The thing is, I have the 'priller forks and Hyperpro shock... So I don't have to go out and buy them.

And the other 2 reasons I'm getting the MC18 frame, is that it is lighter and far cheaper... Rolling Eyes )

Ah, sounds like a bloody good reason to me! I'd advise getting the MC21 frame, as access to the carbs is so much easier. Dunno about weights, but I'd guess it's a better frame for mounting later suspension too. Only a guess mind...
