HOW TO: Clean exterior of cylinders and other aluminium

Sat Jul 22, 2006 8:19 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

After recroming, the exterior of my cylinders look better than new, so I am trying to find out how its done.
I've been told its chemical, but the chemicals I have tried, did indeed dissolve some of the alu, but it became black, not clear aluminium.

Any ideas ?

I think most places do soda-blasting. I think they use soda ash.

Ezy-Off oven cleaner works well, but gives a different finish to freshly replated cylinders.
