Other Honda wheels to fit

Mon Aug 21, 2006 12:10 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anyone know if any other Honda wheels, like a CBR or SP1(RC51) can be mounted to a '92 RS250? Wanted to mount my wets onto something for trackdays and didn't want to have to buy a spare set of expensive RS wheels and then only use em once or twice. Tyre sizes are 120 front and 165 rear......if that helps.

You won't find much that will do a direct swap, but with some work you can probably get something to work.

With that size your looking more at the earlier model CBR600's for the rear.

Of course this all depends on the year RS you have. Early model RS's had the left hand drive chain, while the later models had the right hand. Pretty much all honda road bikes have a left hand drive chain.

Front won't be as bad. Just may need to make some custom spacers, and figure out the whole brake disc thing.

I kinda suspected that I'd have to make up spacers and off sets for the disks and carrier. I was hoping that there might be a sneaky swap.

On a different note Charles, are you running a 3.5" or 3.75" front hoop? I was wondering if there was a great deal of difference. The '01 bike runs a 5.5" rear I know and my 92" RS has a 5.25" rear but I was wondering if the 3.75" has any usefully benefits?

the 3.75 allows you a different option in tires. I run 3.5 as I run the 120/70R17 front tire and like it just fine. I went for the same size for the second set of rims (over the 3.75 front).

I think the 3.75 front rim would need a 125/60 front tire. Might give you a more flatter profile then the 120/70 on the 3.5 rim.
