F250 Oulton

A few words about the next F250 round at Oulton Park 2 Sept

Round 8 of the F250 championship brings us to Oulton Park for the penultimate round of the season. This round has been kindly sponsored by James Booth and Frecklton Boatyard.

The changeable weather at Cadwell caused a few upsets. Iain McDonald #137 (RS250) took a well deserved win in tricky wet conditions when all riders were caught on the starting grid with dry tyres. While many struggled, Iain who travels down from East Kilbride in Scotland to compete likened it to normal Scottish weather and felt quite at home. With his win Iain is now within striking distance of Ross Searle #105 (RS250) and a third place in the championship.

Alan Armour #4 (RGV) and Mark Jordan #96 (KR-1S) continued their battle for leadership of the series with Alan gaining the upper hand. He now holds a healthy 77 point advantage and with only 150 points left to play for, Mark Jordan is going to struggle to close the gap.

Expect to see a battle royal between this year’s ‘young guns’ Ross Searle and Ben Phillips #162 (KR-1S). Ben has found another 20hp – a matter of some incorrectly fitted power valves which he has been running all season – so he will be keen to show what he can do on a competitive machine.

The battle for leadership of Division II is hotting up. Present leader John Hawkes #47 (KR-1S) holds a slim 21 point advantage over Lee White, who is only 9 points ahead of Ben Phillips. With Lee not competing at Oulton, Ben will be looking to overhaul Lee and close the gap on John. John will also have to deal with Andy Slinn #22 (RS250). The pair have battled all season and at their last meeting finished within a few tenths of a second of each other. Making up the rest of Division II and all after John’s lead are Kevin Tiernan # (KR-1S), Nigel Holmes #75 (RGV) and newcomer to the series John Robinson #91 (RS250)

The dark horse for this round is definitely Colin Skillicorn #6 (RGV). Colin a former F250 and F400 winner at Oulton is expected to be up at the sharp end.

A chance for you to see what the level of competition is. Will next years Honda works entry be able to cut it against Suzuki's dominance?

Still hoping to have the NSR-WORLD Racer ready for a round or two at the end of the season Mark. It's nearly there, but will need testing first.

We'll definitely be out for at least a few rounds next season for a bit of fun, and rumour has it that there will be at least one other MC21 playing too now!! Wink

Figured I could wobble round & try to knock everyone off as they lap me. Wink

The Racer isn't using any "special parts" just yet... we're saving them!

Actually, we're not entirely sure what F3 parts we are allowed to use to keep the bike within the rules.

The only special part will be the rider - or is that "special case"?! Smile

From what I read (very quickly) just the standard carbs have to be kept.
Other than that pretty much anything goes RS/F bleedin` 3, choke, cough, Evil or Very Mad etc.....

Oh dear, that could be interesting then! We may have to start work on the evo cases sooner than we thought!

I've got some "standard" (looking) F3 carbs too you know!

Why doesn`t that surprise me. Rolling Eyes

I`m looking forward to next year anyway, should be a good laugh.
Just hoping I don`t get fed up with the travelling & associated aggro before you even get on to the track.
Still I`m a bit more laid back these days so I reckon I should enjoy it.
Derby Pheonix were always a good club to race with too.
Hoping I`ll get to see some old faces.
Better start getting fit too, nothing cheaper than losing the lard to help go fast! Rolling Eyes Sad Confused
