I'm having problems tightening the chain on my MC28, hoping someone here can help.
Here's the deal:
I just put a new chain on my NSR, which has been apart for about two years. Turned the adjustment ring counter clockwise at first and it moved a little, but in the wrong direction. So I went to turn it clockwise and it will not turn. Now it will not move in either direction. At the moment the chain seems to be adjusted all the way towards the loose end.
Does some thing lock out when loosed all the way? Or could something have happened to the hub? Or am I being a bone head?
have you rebuilt the rear hub at any time? if so have a look at the parts section on this site to se if you miseed something! did you losenen the pinch bolt right off? befor adjusting the hub?
The swinging arm can get full of road crud and ends up down around the hub. It can almost seize the hub solid. If it wont move, take the wheel and sprocket carrier off and push the hub out. Once its all out give it a good clean. You can also gear the wheel bearings at the same time which is well worth doing. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
OK, I'm in the middle of taking the hub apart. How does the sprocket carrier come off. It looks like its pressed on. But I'm have trouble getting it off. Any help would be appreciated.
The carrier is just on a spline. Once the nut and washer is removed (on the drive side) the carrier should be free to be pulled off the spline. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
A good soak in penetrating fluid overnight might help. _________________ MC21SP Plaything
