Had the CBR in for an MOT the other day, And they said it failed on the brake pads being low, PANTS i said show me!!!!! as it happened they where low but not on the limit. But what he said next was new to me,
"oh there sintered pads, mmm the limit on sintered pads is lower than kevlar ones, so i guess its a pass" wahoo!
Basically he said later, that with sintered pads you can go down to 1mm and they'll still pass your MOT but standard pads are 1.5mm sounds weird to me! Can anyone confirm? worth knowing just incase you do have pads on the limit and need an MOT
Oh Wayne... He had carefully calibrated 'vernier eyes' TM... These allow you to see minute differences in brake pad thickness, and also enable you to construct 2-stroke gearboxes perfectly... _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...

Yeah,
a bit like the tourque wrench elbow, where everything gets tightened as tight as ferk!
So much so, the thread comes out when you undo casing bolts!
nsr.wayne wrote:How the f*~k could he tell the difference between 1mm and 1.5mm without taken the pads out and measuring them
No idea mate it was more like 1 mm and 5mm (actual pad thickness), but the comment was worth a mention, i cant see why a sintered pad is safer than a carbon one, is it to do with heat transfer??? who knows!
I guess its in there intrest to fail you on something as you may not argue and just get it done!!! which is more money for them!!!
Theres me worrying over the possible difference between a HRC NSR input shaft tooth form and a RS250 tooth form, and you get Wayne who takes a grinder to his and thinks nothing of it. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Well as my job sometimes involves hitting £100,000 + cars with big hammers and putting bodyfiller in them taken a grinder to a gear cog holds no fear for me
