Ethos pipes

Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:53 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Is anyone running ethos pipes on a stsndard mc21se motor?
My problem is I have just that but the jetting is miles rich.
I don't want to bring the jets down to standard in case i should be
running richer with the ethos pipes on. Any advise?

Gee thanks for that fontyyy Embarassed . What i was actually asking was if anyone was running ethos pipes on a std 21 motor. Some kind of ballpark jetting guide would be appreciated as i don't want to 'go leaner' and have a siezure.

I could tell you my jetting, but I don't reckon there are many, if any bikes here that could run it without seizing! Confused

Er, one-seventy-something... try it at your peril!

Just go down 1 size at a time 'till the plugs look the right colour! In my experience, when you think you have the jetting just about right, there's always another couple of sizes you can go down!! Laughing

Stephen's the worst culprit I reckon! Laughing

If it won't take full throttle from like idle to 13k, and not miss a beat in between, then those carbs just HAVE to come off... again!!! Shocked

His signature is probably the most appropriate on the Forum! He's the only person I have ever met to run one setting on an outward journey in the afternoon, and another setting on the way back home in the evening!!

I've just gone down to 180 - 182 with open carbs and it still doesnt feel that crisp. Rolling Eyes

Really? I've got down to 170's in the '28 kit and they tend to run 3-4 sizes richer.
Mine would definately end up in them (the 170's) if I jetted it for the track on a hot day.

But take care, cold weather is on the way, sneaking it up a size or two may be prudent Wink

Yeah but it winds me up to hell if something doesn't carb right. I'm well chuffed with myself that Ive got the F3 to pull clean right off the bottom on wide open throttle, make 70+bhp, start and tick over all on 39mm PWK's

Topic wise though, my stock ish '21 was running 175/175m/j, clip #2, 42 pilots with open carbs and dogfight pipes.
