Was at Brands today!! How sh&t are the 4 strokes, nothing could stay with the NSR it was fab, the indy circuit is just to small for the big bikes to get into swing, LOL
Anyway, aside from that i noticed that i was losing gerbox oil from the clutch (its a dry one) not alot, maybe a t spoon for the whole day comming out the bottom plastic bit with the square holes, the level is still high, but im thinking the rubber seal has gone behing the clucth basket, (the rubber bit in side the engine case cover) has anyone else had this problem? could it be something else?, and is it easy to replace.?????
OR could it be that the G box level is to high and the excess is seeping out?
Did you not just install the dry clutch to your R motor? There may have been a little damage to the seal as it was all fitted, or it may have just worn out.
Doesn't sound like much of a problem really, and a new seal is easy enough to fit.
Yeah it was all fine when i put the dry clutch in. But its been off and on a few times now, so im geussing its been damaged, oh well, i think itll last untill after donny, then its winter anyway and time for the strip down and clean so ill do it then. sounds like a good time to replace to clutch as well!! Cheers
Well drained the G box oil, bit worse than i thought, although not bad enough to stop me going to donny LOL drained oil filled my measuring jug up to the 650ml mark, so im guessing ive lost around 50ml over 7 sessions on the track and around 100 miles road use! . sound okay to you guys or is it something i should definatly change before the next track day in 2 weeks, ???? i was gona fill it back up to 700ml's and take some with me to the track, and just keep an eye on it!!!!!! What do you think!!!!
Whats the worst that can happen, the oil goes over the clutch plates and you need £50 worth of plates and loose the track day anyway due to lack of drive...
Your not going to get a seal in 2 days anyway from Honda. I think I waited almost 2 weeks for one for Andys motor. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Exactly. Take a rag and clean the clutch area out after each session and I'm sure it'll be fine. Maybe run withough the clutch cover on so any oil can run straight out the bottom? _________________ MC21SP Plaything

thats probabaly why no one passed me at brands LOL,, na it wasnt that bad, my concern was it covering the rear tyre, but the oil gathered in the little square air hole bit at the bottom of the cover, and the most i could find after a session was a finger tips worth, and a small 8 or 9 dots worth of spray on the frame, The bikes going to bed for winter and ill do all the seals and get new plates as im sure these will be a little contaminated.... Fingers crossed......

If you remember Steve, I think the delay was because the HRC transmission requires a different seal to the SP unit, so the F3 part had to come from Japan. _________________ Andy.

Tis true but even if they are in stock in europe he wont get it in time now. If I was really nice I could have a look and see if I have one in stock, but I'm going to bed so I'm not going too lol _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
On my old TZ350 I cleaned contaminated plates in a solvent cleaner.
Trichlouroethelene, dry cleaner fluid if I remember right.
Sweated out the oil on two bronze plates over the gas stove.

Hey, you take any advantage you get!
Although it's more likely to simply coat the inside of the fairing with goo and not the track. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Just wipe them clean and ignore the seal problem. 50cc of oil is nothing!
What's the worse that could happen? The seal problem gets worse, you lose more oil, the oil drips onto the tyre, you highside flat out coming out of clearway breaking lots of bones and destroying the bike. But that couldn't possibly happen right?
Or better than that, your oil takes out another rider who breaks lots of bones and destroys his/her bike. Then you'd feel really good about the fact that it's an easy fix and you couldn't be bothered.
Fix it.
Sorry to sound a little miserable but having gone down on another rider's oil I think I've got a good case. His problem was the countershaft seal seeping, as t seal was damaged putting the tranny in. It has shown puffs of smoke in morning warm up and they claimed to have fixed it, but lap two saw him highside right in front of me, and I lost the front on the juice, along with three other riders behind me. Luckily I was able to continue, but he broke bones.
Parts ordered 2 days ago grumpy!!! fingers crossed theyll be here before the 2nd of october, LOL New clutch, ALL seals for that case, even the push rod o ring has been ordered!!! juct in case its not the one i thnk it is!!!
