I have got myself a pair of JHA pipes (Cheers Racer 38 ) but without manifolds (Thanks alot Racer 38 ) for my 21 but I have a plan
I'm going to cut the ends off the stock pipes and sleeve them over the ends of the JHA's and weld then on so I can use the stock clamps.
See I'm a genius
So my question is when the JHA pipes are on their manifolds do the ends of the pipes butt up tight to the flange of the manifolds ??? _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
After your exercise with gear boxes I would stay away from trying to do anything that involves cutting and welding... some people shouldn't be let loose with power tools.
However if you want to totally wreck a set of JHA pipes then yes when on their stubs they are pulled right up. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Wouldn't you be better off making up some suitable flanges and using spings to slip-fit the pipes to the flanges, Wayne?
I've always assumed that thin walled race style chambers use this kind of set up in part to avoid having a 'solid' mounting at the pipe header that could crack due to vibration. As it's probably not much more hassle to fabricate some suitable flanges than it would be to 'cut and shut' the pipes (and potentially ruin 2 sets of pipes in the process) I'd definitely favour the flange option as that would mean that the JHA's would be unmolested and therfore eminently more 'sellable' if you find you don't want them or want to try different pipes.
Well the pipes were only one step away from going in the bin as their rough and as I only want to get a few trackdays from them I'm only after a quick fix until I get some of those NSR-WORLD ones.
Also the stock ones on this here 21 thing have lots of rust holes in the down pipes so I would have to weld them up anyway so its less work to cut the ends off and weld them on the JHA's.
You dont think I would ruin a good set of JHA's do you ??? _________________ Harley Davidson is the worlds most efficient way to turn petrol into noise without the harmful side effect of horsepower.
Wayne, what's the ID of the Jha's you have? There's a possibility the NSR-WORLD chambers may just be the same for some strange reason! _________________ Andy.

Wayne, the tyga manifolds will fit them, if you fancy ordering a set I wouldnt mind doubling up with you on an order as I also have a set of JHA pipes without any manifolds.
