Rear Shock / Spring

Sun Nov 14, 2004 12:20 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I'm looking to beef up the rear end of my MC21. Does anyone have any advise as to a replacement spring and or shock and spring? My weight is around 170lbs.

Thanks

Oops, I guess I should have specified "options on a budget"! I'd love to have an Ohlins unit but just can't justify the cost considering the fact that I don't ride a lot. I was thinking more a long the lines of a replacement spring or perhaps a shock spring from another bike that fits with few modifications.

Don,

When I had Stig Pettersson redo my shock, he put a 12.5kg Hyperpro spring on it. Stocker was bottoming too much with my 160 pounds. New spring works well - still cushy but no bottoming, at least at my modest speeds. Hyperpro has a website that (amazingly) indicates an application for the MC21 (shock kit # SP-HO02-SSB003) - you might shoot them an email with your weight info etc. and see what they recommend. Hope that helps.

Inexpensive alternative:
Aprilia RS250 fully adjustable shock. Just switch the spring. 40 clicks of compression dampening and 26 clicks of rebound. Get the later type which has adjustable ride height. The NC30 owners do it.
