slaps like a cheated wife

Went out Saturday for a run on a familiar road, was making progress when I hit a few bumps, well fu** me the bars went ballistic,we straightened up for a nanosecond,me thinking I had got away with it,when once again off we go ,front tyre making that chirping sound.Once again straightened out,all o.k. except for pads had been pushed back into the calipers,so no front brakes, and two very sore wrists.Damper on order this morning.Irish roads don't ya have to love them.

No NSR I've ridden has ever slapped like that, and they're very neutral. I've ridden over some pretty awful roads at silly speeds on them too.

I'd check everything else is fine before ordering a damper, like bearings, tyre wear, alignment etc...

Maxim you are correct to say that NSRs are neutral, however I don't mind a bike being lively, this was not the first time I have had a event like this on Irish roads, they are appaling,my SP1 and I almost had a trip to the ditch under the same circumstances, now wears an Ohlins damper ,and my RVF also wears a damper after a similar event.Tyres are new BT090s,all bearings ,headrace and wheel etc. are fine, may have been "operator error",in any case Ohlins are going to make a sale.

Ive been thrown off the '18 once (and broke a load of fingers) and its almost had be again.

The '21 does it too now and again. Bill's been slapped out of his '21 more than once. Bill runs a damper but to be honest I dont get on with them so just hold on a bit tighter.

I think Wayne has also come across it on one of his '18 even after checking everthing.

Last time I had a slapper it was on the back of a YSR80 down Soi 7... or was it up Soi 8? Very Happy

Hey, that YSR was more than a slapper magnet! Soi 8 wheelies Cool

Going back to tank slappers, with the NSR set up in it's standard lazy way, slappers are few and far between but they do happen. My NSRs are usually set arse up, head down, and if there was no damper then I'd have tasted the tar far more often than I have.

Slappers! PAH! You've not lived until you've had an LC try to throw you over the central reservation of a duel carriageway Shocked
Now they knew how to tank slap.
