What oil do you use in your bike ???

Wed Mar 07, 2007 10:16 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just wondering what's my best bet for longevity of my motor.

Is still oil injected and previous owner was running Motul 600. From what I can see that is now a # for thier brake fluid. The new # for their injector iol is 710....?? That right ?

I found Liters of Repsol Moto 2T at a good price.... Anyone ever use it ?

Just trying to be safe about this bike, that all.

Thanks, Steve

Myself and alot of the other guys in the UK use Rock oil. I know this can be got in States but maybe not quite as easly as Motul. I thought the Motul was #800 not 710.

'710' is the replacement for '600' I think, Steve. I thought the 800 was pre-mix only though?

Cheers

That's what I got WB.

Checked about that Rock oil, only one distibuter in the states. Probably not going to be cost effective to have it shipped across the country.

Sorry, I forgot some people are still using oil pumps Wink

I thought Rock might be a bit hard for you to get but you never know.

I personally don't trust oil pumps... I'd rather premix, fail safe.
Previous owner said they are reliable though and has never seen one fail.
I'm scared to touch it still, not ready to start pulling it apart...So I will leave it as it is for now. Wink

Steve, I had the same problem here in California, for some reason no one wants to stock the Motul stuff,....I have a clean 96 sp & use the Castrol TTS & seems to work well & burns clean when it warms up

I use Motul 800 road race very hard to find. Motul 800 off road and 600 low smoke. I all depends on my mood Laughing

Cool, I'll probably stick with the Motul 710...
I was interested to see if anyone has used the Repsol though. Since I can mail order it at a very good price, it may be a better choice.
Thanks for the input thus far !!
Steve

Anyone else????
The local bike shop suggested Bel-Ray Si7. It is very expensive through him though. But so is the Motul there...

I used Bel-Ray once, seized solid. Used it for oiling the garden gate after that.

Get used to it!

Buy ANYTHING cheap for a two stroke and you will soon be counting the cost in plenty of other ways.

An NSR (or any other 2-stroke) isn't for penny-pinchers.

im pretty sure u guys have seen that nasty oil thats in your local petrol station (normaly made under the petrol stations name), anywho i just wonder what would happen if u ran an nsr of it and took it flat out down a straight LOL instant seizure (then agian, for some mirculous reason it could turn out to be good oil in fact !?!?!?)

second thoughts, dont try an nsr...use an rgv or somthing like that...
