Well it was brought to my attention by Scott v that there are some lips missing on my intake tracts. At first I didn't know exactly what he was talkin about but when I undug some stock cases I then realized what it was. The lips on the bottom edge that look as if they direct airflow to the barrells. Heres a pic of the 'reworked' case halve.
Now my question is......Am i fuct without these lips? Are they detremental(sp?) to performance?
I can get some welded up but that would mean the motor will have to come apart...again.
Its hard to explain here, plus we have the NSR-World secrets act but we infact make them bigger.... _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Oh yeah the Kennedy stuff is supposed to be released soon. That'll flip the gov't upside down over here. _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001

I'm glad you mentioned this. I noticed this from the pictures and wondered if I should do it since I'm currently working on my cases. _________________ james

Always good to learn from others mistakes eh.
Here's a pic of stock intake tracts with above mentioned 'lips'. This is for future reference and comparison.
Hope this helps. _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001

John,
all I can say is my usual, "chill out man"!!!
Are you going to race this bike?
Are you lokking for every last horsepower?
Most of the rest of the pictures looks okay, I personally didn`t remove the lips as a tuning book I believe in said not to. It also said to make them bigger. I did think like Steve said to increase them but decided not to.
I`d give the cases a try & see what happens myself, I`m thinking the mixture following the crankwheels will act like the lips in question anyway. It`s up to you, I wouldn`t get overly obsessed with making everything perfect for racing if you`re only going to ride on the highway.
It`s just my opinion of course!
Roy.
Yeah, I understand what you mean Chester. It's not going to be a race bike, but I just want it to be 'optimal' for big grins. I just figure while I'm in there i may as well get it right. Plus I like learning all this new info. Pretty much been wingin it since I first got my NSR.
I figure adding the lips with some epoxy shouldn't be tough at all so why not do it.
ps. my chemical imbalance prolly has something to do with my freak nature. _________________ MC21 300R w/SE bits, Rossi 2001
