Hello All...(and apologies to Andy who I have sent most of this info to already)
I am currently visiting in Japan. Today we were driving down the road in a town called Wakayama and I glimpsed what I thought was an NSR250. We went back to see it and sure enough...1994 NSR250SP in Rothmans livery.

I have no idea if the image upload will work..If it does, I will post more pix. They want $5000 USD or 2500 GBP for the thing. 11,ish Km. Some light scratches on the blue part of the left fairing. Otherwise, very very nice condition. We fired it up and ran it for a bit. All lights, etc. function normally. Sounds cool. I have a cousin who flies international freight out of Tokyo, and I believe he could take care of getting it to the States for me...the question is 'then what'? Can I license this thing? I am guessing I will end up with a Japanese bill of sale, and maybe not much more. (Should have asked if there is a title!!...maybe tomorrow!) When we were leaving, the dealer said, $4600 USD as is, or $5000 with a new left lower panel. (doesn't need it IMHO...would be totally cherry if it had it though)
It looks, sounds, feels so sweet you guys. Do your best to save me $4600 and the headaches of international shipping, customs, etc. by talking me out of this machine. I am leaving Japan in 2 days but I can easily buy it and store it at my friend's house indefinitely. What do you think??!![/img]
I know how to get them licensed here very easily. You need a solid bill of sale from the "previous owner" (which really could be anyone here in the US with a ligit US address). Cost for initial registration and plate for me was about $100, and cost to transfer that registration and plate to a WA title/plate/registration totally ligit with all the exact VIN digits was another $80.
Buy it. That's a real decent price. Last time I checked, prices on NSR's in Japan has recently gone up quite a bit. _________________ Paul Herr

Getting it past Customs will be the first trick. Take the motor out and ship it as parts. Then it may depend allot on your state as to how hard it is to register, but usually it can be don with enough effort and money. If that doesn't work I'll give you $5,000 for it so you can recover your costs. _________________ james

I mailed Jamie (from Jamie's Homepage) in Japan when I was after that 4500GBP Rothmans '28sp in Bristol, he reckoned if it was mint as they claimed (it wasn't) it was on the money. Also I was offered 3000GBP for mine last year in it's tatty been down in the gravel, half not OE bodywork...
Better bike, worse bike or whatever it matters not one jot, '28s demand a premium. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
