So my MC21 project is finally nearing competetion. The motor is assembled and installed. But before I start it I want to make sure all the devices on the motor are working correctly. So i have some questions:
How can I test the oil pump to be sure its working? I'm not too worried from a mechanical perspective, but it has an elecrical gizmo on it and I don't know what it does.
Were does the vent hose on the right carburetor go?
The vacuum lines on the carbs: I have the red HRC "T" fitting. One port on the T fitting is left open, but this leaves an open hose on the two things above the oil pump. What do I do with that open hose? What are those two things and how can I be sure they are working?
RC valves: When I turn on the key I thought that the RC valves should go back and forth for testing. But mine only goes one way and stops. If I turn off/on the ignition, it will not move. If I dissconnect the TPS the servo motor turns in the opposite direction to a stopping point. It works eactly the same way with my spare racing PGMIII. Does this sound right? In any case, with the valves perfectly aligned, it seems they do not fully open.
Is there anything else I should double check prior to starting? I have alot of time and money invested in this motor and don't want to mess it up. _________________ james

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the solenoid on the oil pump increases flow when the bike is initially started.
I think theres a diagram in the tuning section re the carb t piece plumbing. _________________ If you dont like the way that i ride.....Stop trying to keep up!!!!!
It there a way to test the soliniod for the oil pump? _________________ james

I have recently run in my MC21 with a full top end rebiuld.
as for your oil pump question..
I disconnected the oil feed lines at the carby end and secured them with a cable tie so they were both pointing out from the engine (like a U shape)
Fill up the 2 stroke oil reservior, now bleed the oil pump by unscrewing the
small bolt on top.. oil will come out.. screw it back in.
then make up some pre-mixed fuel (i used fuel for my dirt bike mixed at 40:1, but i think 30:1 is recommended for nsr, but i figured a little bit more oil cant hurt.. especially on a fresh rebiuld)
now you can start your bike, running the premix fuel.
Let it idle, reach in and by hand turn the oil pump to full (where the cable from the carb to the oil pump connects) hold it at full and blip the throttle slightly untill the 2 stroke oil starts pumping out the end of the oil feed lines that should be facing back at you (as per the start of my answer)
once the oil is pumping through the feed lines you can let go of the oil pump and watch as your bike idles and you blip the throttle a bit, the oil should keep pumping out the end of the feed lines. (slowly at idle and more as you rev engine)
If all is working, you have now bled your oil pump and feed lines!
you can turn bike off and re-connect the feed lines to carb, drain fuel tank
and run bike again using straight fuel. All done.
