I seem to be having a problem with the old mc21 it does a crazy thing with the oil light ,when its in neutral it revs fine, but when you wack it in gear it thinks it has no oil and sort of stutters and doesn't want to rev
it feels electrical but I'm not sure .
I don't really want to rev it out just in case it doesn't have oil and decides to feed on its internals
has anyone come across this before ? or can anyone make an educated guess
thanks
mark
Or bad contacts on the coils. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Does any one know were the ground for the green red wire on the oil sensor goes ,This is earthing on my mc18 but not on the 21, thought I better ask before I procede to rip out perfectly fine components
thanks for the suggestions will whip out the contact cleaner when I get home
Hello again Ive found that when I hook the 1st wire up to the neutral wire the problem goes away (not recommended I know) but would this suggest anything to anyone
Do you mean connecting the wire for first gear to the wire for neutral?
It'd suggest there may be a short or open circuit in the loom.
Does the neutral light work properly?
Have you carried out a con check on the wires to the chassis? I'd suggest you unplug the PGM, then do checks from each wire to chassis, and then from one wire to the rest...
Let us know what you find. _________________ MC21SP Plaything

Neutral works fine
Ok here is the longlist of wires
Black & Blue joins to Green Red, black Yellow,Green Orange
Light Green Red joins to Black White, Green Pink ,Pink
White joins to White Red
green goes to earth and so does the selected gear as expected
earth goes round the sun
I saw on the wiring diagram(on this site) that yellow and green should go to green when I did this the rpm gauge stops working (doesn't fix the problem either )
Is the mc21 sp wiring different to that of the r model
And it shows that keeping everything clean is important as our little bikes get older. Good effort! _________________ MC21SP Plaything
