I have an 92 MC21 SE. I am in the process of switching over from stock to a HRC derestrictor, HRC Jet Kit, Tyga High Flow Reed Kit, and Specially made Tommy Crawford RS250 Chambers. Im wondering if I should run a modified airbox lid or switch to individual filter?. If I switch to filters what would you guys recommend? K&N, Uni...??? _________________ 92 NSR250 SE

If it is just for street riding, any pods would work...if for track, you may want to run open carbs setup(no filters) More air = more ponies. _________________ FILOLI - Fight, Love, Live
In my opinion pod filters are probably not much better than running a modified airbox. If any beter at all.
I reckon the way to go is either open carbs, or mod the airbox. And by mod the airbox I mean seriously mod the airbox.
As stock the airbox is really two small chambers, but you want to chop the middle divider bit out so that you get one big airbox. Not so clever right down the bottom end of the scale, but bettertop end performance. You can run with a lid (and filter), but obviously the entry need modifying to allow maximum air but no more. Then chop the inlet rubbers down flush with the airbox and put a nice rad on them, then you get the best right through.

Open (lidless) airbox compared with open carbs;
Better figures, better sound, feels faster but in fact is slower unless you believe you can keep the revs above 10800!
Modded (two * 1" holes) lid on the airbox feels like it makes no difference to top end go but seems to give a load more mid throttle, mid revs response. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
