Wed Dec 01, 2004 3:02 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

just curious as to what a Street SP mc21 can be pared down too
keeping the oil injection system

lets say aftermarket bodywork rearsets and exauhst
get rid of pass pegs maybe a few TYGA lite parts
(not gonna get carried away with titanium fasteners etc...)

is 280 realistic?
what are some of you guys/gals bikes at?

Koren

(im gonna have to lose about 20 more lbs before i even start worrying about the bikes weight! haha) Rolling Eyes

I take it you mean pounds!

Junk charging circuit, reg/rect and headlight/mirrors/indicators. Get a daytime only MOT. Swap rear bulbs for low power LED versions.

Junk expansion tank and associated hoses, running total loss for the cooling system.

Junk rear brake reservoir - who uses the rear brake anyway?

Carbon fibre bodywork.

Saw off subframe behind riders seat.

Remove kickstart and mechanism.

Carbon wheels.

Junk instruments and fit LCD unit instead.

Use unleaded fuel.

Should get it well below 250...

I do!! :-)

It's sometimes the only way to settle the rear end on bumpy corners... andthere's plenty of those on Devon's finest back lanes! The only trouble is you can only do it on left handers unless you have a thumb operated lever! Ooh... maybe that's the real reason why "Uncle Mick" had one!

:D

I think the main word there was "realistic" Dave. If he wanted it to be really light he could cut off the front head stock and wheelie it everywhere, Im sure he doesnt. Very Happy

I think as standard the NSR is pretty good weight wise, get some race pipes as the OE ones as dave says weigh a ton. If you get a single seat unit ditch the pillion footrest and youve saved yourself quite a few pounds wthout spending too much or hacking things off.

Stephen, I know. I was being slightly daft - especially the inclusion of unleaded petrol!

Realistically, I've only removed the pillion seat and footpegs from mine in street trim.

Try weighing the bike in Kilos, it'll be far less!

I liked the one about unleaded petrol... surely that's gotta' be lighter than fuel with lead in it!! ;)
