1995 nsr(28?) Missing key card

Sat Dec 04, 2004 5:45 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just bought an NSR250...The bike is intact, but the key card was lost by the previous owner. What can I do? New owner, Newbie...forgive the ignorance...cautiously optimistic.

Since the credit card key is linked to the PGM unit, you will need to get a key as well as a matching PGM, or get a key programed to your PGM. You may want to ask some of the Japanese members for more info on this, or possible give TYGA a shout (http://www.tygaperformance.com).

Thanks,

missing MC28 "key"

2 options
1. Get a HRC card (and lose the speedo)
2. Buy a new PGM complete with new card.
Honda do not sell the indivdual "keys" as they were matched to the PGM.

I would advise you get the HRC 030 card. There are a ton of US Military folk here: http://www.gaijinriders.com/ See if one of them would be willing to go to the local HRC dealer (HARC PRO is just 15 minutes away from Yokota AB). I bought several while I was there over the years, and the price was always around $160. Shipping from the US Military base to San Fran is DIRT cheap (the US Postal code on the base is actualy a SF Zip)

Separate the guage cluster from the card unit. You will find a 5-digit code, which is your key code. This is all they need to get you an HRC card (plus cash of course).

If you have a hard time contacting someone, or dont wish to join the board, I can help you out. I am still a member there.

I did this recently -this year- despite rumours that HRC no longer had any stock of the 030 cards. I suspect that you can order the ordinary card as well, but either way, as Wrench says you need the number on the PGM to match it to.
If you send me the money and the PGM number then I can order you an HRC card, (or look into a regular one for you) and then send it. If I remember correctly it takes quite a while (couple of weeks) for it to arrive after being ordered.

Alternatively you could probably do it yourself via the HARC-PRO website; that's all that I did. The only difference is you'd pay them a tiny bit more for postage, and you'd need to get the money to them somehow (I did a bank transfer). If they take credit cards then you're a couple of E-mails away from getting it yourself!

I found this posting on Jamies NSR:

www.tsrwordwide.com

cost is 15500 Jpy + shipping

part number for the 030 card is 30450-NKD-600

just bought a card from them, for a friend of mine, and they are real pros!
