Yes it happend 30 minutes before moto gp qualifing on a parade lap, between turn 3 and 4. I was at full throtle around 90mph or more, and I ran out of gas in front of a 100 thousand people. So my question is , with my pump connected am I getting lubrication to my upper and lower end even if I ran out of gas, or have I done some damage like running out with premix .
You'll be OK unless you are really really unlucky. I've run onto reserve whilst flat out (or at a respectable cruising speed) many a time, reached down for the tap, and flicked it on to "res" and carried on to the nearest filling station with Super Plus!
Of course, you need to be very flexible to hold the clutch in and turn the tap (i.e. it's not possible in the real world!) and mine's not siezed from it yet!
It's always a horrible feeling though... cos usually I'm really hammering it, and it gives you that sinking "oh bollox!" feeling for a moment! Probably nothing like doing it in front of 100,000 people though! _________________ Andy.

Last lap, 7 seconds in the lead. Couldn't believe it.
Got back to pits and asked the mechanic how much he'd mixed up, and he'd calculated exactly for the race laps, but hadn't considered sighting lap or warm up or any reserve.

First and last time I let somebody else mix my fuel.

I have had to put up with Racer38 constantly turning off my fuel tap whilst on a track day!!! So constantly ran out going flat out....luckily for Tom it didnt seize else he may of had another rebuild to do !!!
Dave Ett wrote:And how many have gone out to race having rejetted after practise, and forgotten to turn the fuel tap back on?
Only those people so cheap as to not have a proper connector on their fuel pipe that they can just pop off, same sort of people who'd use lumps of rusty steel to raise their footpegs I'd guess _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
I have that connector, and still turned the fuel off now and then... _________________ MC21SP Plaything
