finally getting all the minor problems sorted on the 87 mc16 and have notice when i put the ignition on the servo seems to be checking itself going back and too. is this normal or does this sound like a problems or am i worring over nothing?
hi ,
i have bought an mc-16 recently myself. and yes, ive noticed the to and fro movement you spoke about. so i guess it must not be a problem and just something inherent in the servo mechanism itself.
that being said, i have a question for you.
on revving the bike, at what rpm does the servo indicate the 'hi' position.
mine goes to 'hi' at idle itself and then goes to low at around 5000 rpm and back to hi at 9000 rpm. please tell me what u experience with your bike,

thanks for the feedback, sounds like something and nothing then, unless we hear otherwise. can't say i've had a reason to rev it out as you described as i haven't checked the rc valve openings but i will do soon enough when i get around to it as i'm getting my mc21 ready for an mot and having plenty of fiddly little jobs to do on that first. i'll send you a pm when i have a look.
i think you should post the question as it is a good one. you'll probably get a better more reliable answer plus i live around people that don't share our love of blue smoke and they wouldn't be best pleased me reving it out to 9000rpm.
have you posted any pictures yet on the site. i will when i have sourced a hugger for mine.
Hi,
I have an MC16. My bike also exhibits the servo motor twitching when you first turn the ignition on. It does this intermitantly - not every time the ignition is turned on.
My servo motor cycles at 2000rpm - completely opens the rc valves and then closes them again. According to what I have read this is what it is supposed to do.
Beyond that, I believe, the servo motor should begin to open the valves at 7000rpm and they should be completely open around 10K. One way to check would be to disconnect the servo motor, open the valves manually and run the bike to see if you get the same top end performance - should be the same up top and slugish down low. This is according to what I have read - haven't tried it on my bike yet but it can't hurt anything.

i have a early 1987 mc16 and the valve if im turning the key on with the bike cold and dont start the engine the servo if the valve moves to the cold starting position and stays there if i turn it off then back on the vlve stays where it is. opon starting it moves about a bit between hi and low till the engines warm. _________________ Honda nc23 CBR400 AERO 1986, 1990 honda NC23 Tri-Arm, 1987VFR400 NC24 Rothmans Rep, NSR250 MC16 1987, CL250s 1983.
