Just brought a 92 mc21 but needs front rotors, can i fit vfr400 276mm discs with the stock calipiers?

Also I have a set of 93-98 cbr900rr calipiers on the way can I fit these with the stock discs/vfr400? Or will i have to get the cbr900 ones.

VFR disks will not fit without either caliper adaptors (to space the calipers out), or VFR/VTR (or HRC RS250) forks.

Well the rs250 forks are out of the question. (cant find them or have the $$$ for them.)

now these adaptors can I buy them or do I need to get them made?

Also does anyone have a list of discs that will fit stock mc21 without apaptors?

Are you serious about fitting 276mm rotors ?

PM me and I can send you a sketch for the adapter. I did it on mine till I swapped to a RS USD.

I think I still have a list of rotors that will work with the adapter including wave rotors.

Just a bit of imput before you think of changing your disks.

Long time ago I fitted some VTR disks, yeah they looked great and by god stopped the bike but if your using it on a track think twice because on my bike you could feel they gyro effect when flicking the bike over quite a bit.

For track use I used stock SP disks, they are heavier than R more iron me thinks may be wrong. The best thing was I removed the stock bobbins and fitted Brembo full floater bobbins so they were reall floating disks worked a treat.

PCD is the same I think, but you will need to check the offset.

That's what makes the VFR/VTR disks so viable... the PCD and offset are both the same as the NSR.

There's truth to Luke's reply about the gyroscopic effect of bigger disks. However, since the RS250 runs 296mm disks, I'm inclined to believe that the bigger disks are a better option. I've raced the SP on SP disks, and also on RS disks. Give me the 296mm RS stoppers anytime.

Luke, are you sure about the weight of the SP v R disks. I'm pretty sure that the R spec are painted steel inners, while the SP are anodized alloy. Hmmm, needs checking methinks.

Floating the SP disks is a good option. Gives a better feel in my opinion and less chance of any judder if the disk isn't perfectly true. The flash option is to do what Luke did and fit the Brembo buttons, or there's a cheapo option where you can press the stock buttons to make them float. I've done this plenty of times, not just on NSR and it works just the same. In fact it was essential on the old R6's as when they shook their head they threw the pads off the disk so you had no brakes. Pressing the buttons reduced this, which was a good thing.

Well you should remember as I used your pit to strip the disks both sets. They both ran alloy centres cause I used your paint stripper to soak in and then get the scotchy pad on. The SP disks were the heavier out of the two sets and if I remember right had a different letter stamped on them from the R versions, but that was back in the dark ages...

I still think the Black bird monster disks were still the coolest option huge m----- f-------s

The problem with your floating discs Luke (for they are now in my posession on the 350) is they rattle and clatter over bumps...even wheeling the bike around has them chattering!

It does make them a point of conversation though and they do work well.

(not to mention the rear caliper also rattles over bumps...the fairing vibes at low revs..the tank resonates....thankfully i doesn't have an airbox, otherwise it'd sound terrible)
